CNY is just around the corner so we stayed at home to do some spring cleaning. The whole house is like a garang guni den, so messy and dirty. Revised tuition work and school work with the kids, boring, this is the standard stuff we will be doing on weekend.
Dinner at Xin Heng Feng Fishball noodles at Blk 91 Whampoa Drive #01-599 Balestier Food Market. This stall sells Fishball Noodle during the day and sells Fish Head Steamboat at night. Not sure if it's the same people selling though.
There are several stalls selling fish head steamboat in the Whampoa / Balestier area. This is one of the more famous one and we had to wait for an hour before the food is served. The serving is very big (with generous serving of fish white cabbage, seaweed and sliced yam) and the price is very reasonable (around $20+ for a medium size white pomfret steamboat). The steamboat uses charcoal instead of gas or solid fuel but not sure if it made any difference to the taste or not. The soup base is well flavoured with the mixture of fish slices, yams and vegetables. Beside the steamboat, they also served side dishes like duck wings, braised egg and mei cai. The duck wings are nice but the rest are below average.
