A day trip to Desaru with Liz and Siew Ling

We got lost at the new Custom. Didn't know it was so complicated and in the end, landed at some ulu places. Luckily Liz came to our rescure.

As we are not familar with the routes, we got lost several times. By right it should only take around 1 hour+ to reach but we took around 2 to 3 hours. There's also a lot of slow moving vehicles blocking our way and so we had to overtake them. It's actually quite dangeriously as we had to overtake by the opposite lane.

Our halfway point, at a resort near Kota Tinggi Waterfall. There's nothing there. Just s simple resort. An ideal place to escape from the busy city.

Very cute bird cause it knows how to imitate what we talked

At Desaru. We only stayed there for a while. Taking photos, relaxing at the beach and flying kite. I have bought the kite for around 4 years and it has never fly up before, and is always in my car boot. Guess it must be very happy cause it's finally up in the sky.

Some resorts at Desaru

Our lunch. It's rated no. 1 in some foodie show by Adrian Pang and Michelle Chia. Too bad, we didn't get the chance to watch the show. 350RM for the dishes below. Is it cheap for 6 adults and 3 children? The rest of the food is quite average but the lobster dish is superb. It's cooked using some herbal sauce and the taste is heavenly. Think this place is famous for their lobster as there's a definitely a dish of lobster in every tables. The fried lobster looks delicious as well. Will be back again to try it.

We went to an Ostrich Farm after lunch. Veona and I were enjoying ourselves. Feeding them, posing with them to take photo and hugging them but Kennie and Videl were a bit scared so they keep a distant from them.

Wow. What a big egg. 1 ostrich egg cost $50Rm
Hatching in progress
Ostrich egg is so hard that it can withstand around 100kg of weight
Our tour guide of the day. He told us that every part of the ostrich can be turned to money. The essence of the ostrich, the eye lashes to make woman's eye lashes, the egg, the meat, the leather skin, the feather etc.

Veona with Ostrich bone. This bone is to protect the ostrich's heart

The tour guide told us that his monkey is very cheeky. It likes to see upskirt of woman.
The farm also sells food cooked from ostrich meat and egg
Ostrich egg kaya. Something special.
Ostrich satay
Ostrich egg. Less cholestrol and more protein. The healthier choice
Ostrich Steak. Though it's nice, but we still prefer beef cause we like the beefy taste. Ostrich meat is bit too bland.
Special Teh Si with Gula Melaka
Our dinner at Restoran Todak (Hai Fan Chun). This restaurant is rated No. 2 in the Adrian Pang and Michelle Chia' foodie show. It's overlooking Sembawang and the view is nice. Beside the nice view, there's nothing spectacular about their food. Maybe we didn't order their speciality cause we just order some simple food. We should have try their speciality instead of eating kang kong, cereal prawn which we can easily find in S'pore.

Think it will be the first and last time that we will visit Desaru cause there's nothing much to see and play there. What I enjoyed is the journey there and also the nice food. Desaru, definitely not again but the nice food, maybe I will be back.
