First to start off, this is my present to Kennie. Precious Moment figurine. Kennie has always wanted to have a Precious moment figurine but is always too stingy to buy one cause it's not very cheap. The name of this figurine is "I will never let you down". Quite meaningful for a gift to my dear. Kennie's interpretation for this figurine is that she can climb over me and do what she wants. Ya..fat hope.
We were on leave today and start our journey to hunt for food since it's 1 of our favourite past time and a national hobby.
To start off, we went to Hong Lim Food Centre. Found nothing fanciful there so in the end settled for the wanton mee at the ground floor as we saw many Aunties Uncles having it. But it turned out to be horrible cause it's very salty. Heng.. cause we only ordered 1 plate.
Next, we walk over to Upper Cross Street and tried the Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle. This is totally different from the morning experience. The noodle is very Q and chicken is braised to the right taste and it's very tender. Walking towards China Sq, we walked past another shop selling Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle. Aiya... did we go to the wrong stall? Which is the famous one? Only to realise that both shops bear the same name "Chiew Kee". Upon a check, the shop names are actually different, 1 is called Chiew Kee Noodle House and the other is Chew Kee Eating House. Again, it's another common story where the siblings actually split business due to some conflict etc. Anyway, will be back to try the Noodle at another shop.
Teh Halia at Mr Tarik while waiting for the next stop that we are going to open.
We came to the highlight of the day. Standing Sushi Bar at OUB Centre. This type of sushi bar is very common in Japan and it's catered for busy working class who will just order, eat and go. Not much chit chatting or hogging the table as it's tiring to stand too long. The seafood from this shop is airflown from Japan twice a week.Pricing for lunch is quite affordable.
During dinner, out comes the high chairs and it does not entertain walk in, only by reservation. The diners leave the selection of the evening’s menu to the chef. It's not cheap though, think the cheapest set cost $50 and it can go as high as $100.
Patricia Mok was there that day to do some interview on behalf of some magazine. Sian 1/2, how come it's not some pretty actress?
Sushi Set.
Special Chef Sashimi. You eat what they have for that day and it depends on the season as well. Quite a few special sashimi that we don't get to eat in normal Jap restaurant. Definitely a must try but quite ex, $20+ for a plate but it's worth it.
Next, we went shopping, just window shopping. Shopping at Plaza Singapore, Orchard Central, Paragon, Orchard ION and Taka. This is how we celebrate Kennie's Bday. Nothing exciting.. but we got to spend some quality time together.
At Orchard Central going up the long escalator.
Went back to Mil's house after a tiring but enjoyable day. Mil cooked Mee Sua for Kennie.. So sweet of her.
