Day 1 Bangkok

It's day 1 of our Bangkok Trip. Woke up at 3+ and catch a cab to the Airport. Flight timing is 7.10 am so need to reach there at 5.10 am. After checking in, we had bf at the staff canteen at T1.

It's the first time we took Jetstar asia and think it's going to be our last too. The seat is quite comfortable but it's too cramp for me. It's also very noisy inside the cabin and the air ventilation is quite bad. The stewardess are not very pretty and some of them are quite old :p

Clearing of custom is quite slow at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport and the Custom Officers don't look too friendly either.

Took a cab to Baiyoke Sky and the cab driver is supposed to go by meter but when we were in the cab, he quoted us 400bht instead. Not wanting to bargain with him, we let him have his way. The fare for Soo Mee and Karin costed 400+ bht thought they go by meter.

We tried to check in but was told that the room will only be ready by 1pm. We were greeted by an unfriendly hotel receptionist and I'm thoroughly disappointed by their (Custom Officers and Hotel Receptionist) behaviour.

We walked to our favourite Wanton Mee at Pratunam but they are open today. We walked over to Pratinum Mall which is a wholesale centre for clothes and there is a very huge Food Court at level 6. We had lunch at the Food Court and only managed to cover level 5 and half of level 4 level before checking in.

Beef Noodle. Average only. Think Sg version is better.

We need to deposit money to this card which we can use in the food court to buy food.

Though we are staying at the Standard zone (22nd to 45th floors) which is cheapest among the 3 zones, the room is very spacious and it's equipped with almost everything. It's definitely value for money.

Continued shopping at Platinum Mall after checking in and we had only managed to comb level 2. Soo Mee and Ah Hock managed to comb the Pratunam area and the whole of Platinum Mall while we only managed to comb level 2. It's really a pain to shop with Kennie and the kids cause they liked almost anything they see.

We had dinner at Baiyoke Sky at the 76th floor. In-house guest is given a 50% discount for the buffet. The food is so so only but the ambience is quite nice. Though the view from the tallest hotel in Bangkok is not really very nice but the experience is good. There's even magic show and musical performance. Went up to the viewing gallery after dinner.

After dinner, we went to the night market just outside our hotel. It's a small-scale night market and there's nothing much there.
