Was on leave today and ended slacking at home the whole day. Revise tuition works with kids, watch TV, surf net and play board game. Happy that Kennie doesn't have to work OT tonight cause she's rushing him to watch Little Nonya 小娘惹 and also to keep us company. She's quite sad that she couldn't take leave today due to year end closing of account.

Today is Dongzhì Festival 冬至 or also known as Chinese Winter Solstice Festival. One of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. Normally 冬至 falls on 22nd December, but this year falls on 21st December instead.

The most essential festive food in 冬至 is Tang Yuan 湯圓. There are many types of ready made Tang Yuan available at Supermarkets now and we personally felt that they tasted horrible. We are in the mood to make our own Tang Yuan this year so I woke up early to go to the market to buy the dough for making the Tang Yuan. Kennie and the kids had a fun time making their own Tang Yuan while I prepared the soup (using Brown sugar, pandan leave and ginger) for the Tang Yuan.
Went blading at ECP. Quite a good workout for us as the kids got to enjoy themselves while we jogged beside them. Could have blade longer if not for the scorching hot weather.

Lunch at 328 Katong Laksa which is located at 53 East Coast Road. The main branch is actually located 216 East Coast Road. The serving was quite generous with lots of cockles and the thickness of the gravy is just nice, not too thick or too dilute. There are actually around 3 to 5 Katong Laksa around the vicinity and frankly speaking, I'm not really sure which is the original one. Will be back for other Katong Laksa soon.

Visited Mum and brought some Tang Yuan for her. She gave me a magnetic bracelet as she couldn't wear it due to skin allergy. Let's see how effective this magnetic bracelet will be.

Piano was cancelled as Ms Teh's son was admitted due to stomach flu so it's a shopping day for us. Went to JP again and only managed to comb Level 2 and 3 after shopping for hours. This is our pattern, taking our own sweet time to shop at every shops. The place was not as crowded this weeks. Managed to buy some clothes for CNY. Think I will wear them before CNY. Hehe..

A relaxing day for me but not for Kennie. Poor Kennie. She has been busy and working late this few weeks due to closing of her Company's ac.
Went jogging at ECP with my Company early in the morning. Ran 8km and I was super shack as I have not been running for around 2 weeks and had just recovered from flu. We were dismissed after the run, super welfare right? Bf at Beach Road Prawn Noodle and coffee at Old Town White Coffee.
Actually wanted to meet Kennie for lunch but she has prior appt so went home to slack instead. Picked the kids earlier from Mil's place and brought them to visit Mum at Sis's house and to the library.

Went queuing for food again today. This time we decided to give Wah Kee Prawn Noodle located at 41A Cambridge Road Food Centre another chance. It was highly recommended by some food bloggers and we actually visited it last year but was disappointed with it. The queue was super long as it was just featured by the show 'Lost and Found' that week, . We queued for 45 mins just to order the food and waited for another 30 mins for the food to arrive. Total waiting time: 1 hr 15 mins.
Anyway, the food is still as disappointing. The soup is too sweet with little hint of prawn taste and it's too oily to Kennie's liking. We tried the most expensive in the menu which cost $10, the most expensive prawn noodle that we have eaten. For $10, we get 3 jumbo prawns with mee. The prawns are quite fresh but the roes are not plenty.

The carrot cake stall also attract a long queue. Kennie queued for it while I queued for the prawn noodle. Portion is generous and it only cost $2. The softness of the carrot cake is just nice and it's not very oily.

Had Buffet Steamboat at Jalan Besar again. Keke..... my all time favourite.

The kids went to the Christmas Party organised by Karin's neighbour. The party is actually for her tuition students but she always invite us. Personally felt that she's really a very good tuition teacher as she bother to organise this type of activities for her students while most are only concern of making money.

Kids went for their piano while we explored the expanded Jurong Point. Cool.. there are so many shops now and most of shops are the one that we like. But that place is really very crowded. Haiz.... Singaporean. Always going for new stuff.
We were actually quite pissed off with the management. There's actually a promotion till end of the mth. For every $30 spent at any of the new shops, we got to exchange for a $10 voucher. So it's actually quite a good buy. We went back to JP to queue for the vouchers (we didn't claim earlier as we were rushing to fetch the kids) after fetching the kids. Were told by the staff that the vouchers had all been issued out. They are really very unprofessional as they should inform us earlier and not made us queue for it. & there's actually no clause that states that the vouchers are limited and it's while stock last. Anyway, I'm not really hard up for the vouchers but just felt that the management should not be wasting our precious time.
Dinner at Bakerzin.

We were on leave today to bring the kids out. Actually wanted to bring them to either Escape Theme park or Wild Wild Wet again but I was still not feeling well. As it was still early, we went searching for good food again. Thinking that there will not be a crowd at this hour, we went to Maxwell for our favourite Zhen Zhen raw fish porridge. We were wrong as the queue was already formed. The kids don't really like the raw fish here as the raw fish comes with lots of ginger slice, spring onion, sesame seed and fried shallot.

Christmas Tree at UOB building.

Granny Apples - This is quite a fun game. Cover the apples and pour it to the table. The person who sound off the correct no. of apples win the game. It's quite simple as it just required some calculation e.g. if there's a snake, then will minus 1 apple, pie will minus 2 apples, a half red apple will mean 1 apple and a half apple will mean 1/2 apple. So u add and minus it and sound off the answer if you know.

Videl showing is TooToo mouth cause she's quite upset that she didn't get to win any of the game for Granny Apple.

Ugly Ugly Ugly - quite a fun game too where there will be a lot of laughing, snatching and even scratching. The cards are scattered on the tables. Each player open a card one after another. If there are 3 similar cards opened, the player will try to snatch the card fast. If there are 2 players snatching the same card, the player who shout out UGLY UGLY UGLY got to keep the card. The winner will be the one who have the most cards.

Chicken Cha Cha Cha - this is basically a memory game.
You got to move a step if you open the correct card. Once you jump over another player, you got to pluck out the chicken's tail. The person who got all the other players' tails won.

Snortal - this is another funny game.
The player need to flip open the card and when the card matches the card of another player, both player need to make the animal sound e.g. duck quaking. The player who is slower or make the wrong sound got to keep the cards between the 2 players. It's not simple as the player's animal is covered and we have to remember all 3 players' animal. The common mistake is the player tend to make the wrong animal sound.

Three of a Crime - this is basically to identify who are the criminals. There are 3 partners in crime and the players are the detective to identify who they are.

Tumbling Tower - old skool game.
Player role a dice and will need to pull out the wooden block shown on the dice. Then place back the block on top. Player lose if the tower topple.

We spend the whole afternoon at Minds Cafe at Purvis Street. Was quite surprised that the whole place is very pack as the place was quite deserted the previous times. We took the happy package which is quite cheap. $5++ per pax for 4 hours of play from 2 to 6pm.
We played quite a lot of games but personally felt that none of them match Rat a Tat Cat. Maybe there are nicer games there but we didn't get to play it as it's not suitable for kids.
