Day 1 Taipei Seoul Trip

Finally our long awaited trip for the year. 9D8N Taipei and Seoul Trip.

Took an early flight (ETD 0710 hrs) to Taipei. Did a last minute check to ensure that we have not left out anything (money, passport, luggage etc) and checked that we have switched off all electrical appliances. Left home at 3+ and took a cab to T1.

Won for us to spend. We have become millionaire overnight. $1 = 880Won

Camwhore before we flew off. We looked so tired with puffy eyes.

Took Jetstar as we were on budget. No food, no drinks, no in flight entertainment. Luckily we had our bf already and had our ipad/itouch to entertain us.

Reached Taipei at around 1200hrs. Yay. The fun is starting NOW! Dad and his frd were at the Airport to fetch us. So shiok. Weather forecast for the past few days. Raining and around 10degrees. 10degrees is shiok but just hope it will not rain.

Our lunch at ????. It was not in my itinerary cause Dad's frd brought us there.

At the Hotel lobby. Wonstar Hotel (萬事達旅) at Zhonghua Street which is just outside Ximending. Very convenient yet away from the noise and crowd of Ximending.

Executive Triple. Room is so much smaller as compared to what is shown in their website. There's also  cigarette odour in the room.  N it's so much more ex then Hotel TS.

Dinner at Mala Yuanyang Hot Pot. More details can be found at http://mala-1.com.tw. Hot Pot is a must eat food in Taipei. Cheap and the spread is nice and lots more then what Sg's restaurant offered.

Only around 21 SGD. So so so affordable.

Collagen cube to put in the soap. Can feel that our skin feel firmer after eating it. Lol. Just joking. 

Lots of different types of beef. This is heaven.

But seriously I didnt really enjoy this meal and only ate very little. Noise and throat very itchy. Hope I wun fall sick.

Next Stop. To Shilin Night Market.

At the train station. It's easy to navigate their train station. Almost like Sg's as there's only a few lines.

At Jiantan Station. Note: Shilin Night Market is not at Shilin Station but at Jiantan

Happy Happy. It's shopping time.

This is the newer part of the Shilin Night Market. Ground level: Game stalls,  Snacks, clothes. Basement level: Food.  The whole place smells of fried stuff and Smelly Toufu.

The other part of Shilin Night Market. Much more shopping and it's an open air  Night Market. 

Shop and eat till we shiok shiok. But it started to drizzle so we went back earlier. Didnt manage to shop the whole Night Market.

Was on leave today and I slacked at home the whole day. Holiday mood liao. Haha. Veona went for the school leadership camping.

Bf at Cambridge Road (Pek Kio) Hawker Centre. Sian, the famous old uncle carrot cake (Good spice carrot cake) is not opened again. Dun tell me something bad happened to the uncle. Choy!

Had the following instead.

This used to be 1 of the famous prawn noodle in SG, Wah Kee Prawn Noodle but business seems to have dropped significantly.

Haircut time again for Kennie. She wanted to perm her hair but her stylist recommended her not to perm as she had just rebonded her hair last year.

Went ICA to collect my new passport. Just dun understand the system. Why is the pp only valid for 5 years and not 10 years?

Chung Cheng Chilli Mee - chilli mee is actually dried prawn mee mixed with their specially made chilli paste

Famous Prawn Mee. It's much drier as compared to other prawn mee and they used fine bee hoon instead of thick bee hoon. Serving is quite pathetic with 2  prawns and few slices of sotong.

A boring weekend. Didnt go anywhere. Study study study. Sigh. Waiting for March to come.

This is my favourite soup stall at Gek Poh Shopping Centre. 老火湯; Lao Huo Tang). They are very generous with their ingredients and the soup is refillable. It's actually a franchise stall and  think their main stall is at Smith Street Food Centre. There's also 1 at Choa Chu Kang Central but the one at Gek Poh is much nicer.

Happy Valentine Day. No celebration this year.

Stupid me. Accidentally cancelled my Seoul's hotel (Uljiro Co-op Residence) booking at Asiarooms.com. Sibei stress. Tried to book the hotel again but was fully booked immediately. Wanted to stay at Dongdaemun area as it's more accessible and the airport limousine (6002) will bring us to the hotel from the airport. Luckily managed to find another hotel (Eastgate Tower Hotel) but it's super duper ex. Sigh. No choice, if not we would have to sleep on the street liao.
