Kelong Day 1

Woke up early and catch a train to Bedok. Had BF at the Hawker Centre beside Bedok Interchange and we took a bus to TMFT.

Horrible Laksa. This stall was featured in Quan Yifeng and Kym Ng's variety show (Save the stall) but it still taste as horrible after been saved.

The ferry ride took around 1.45 hrs and we were too slow to board the ferry and ended in the smoking deck. Was quite surprised that we cleared the custom within minutes though there's a queue. Transferred to a van and the journey took another 45 mins. So unlucky. It started to rain when we were boarding the van but luckily it just a passing run.

Collecting our boarding pass

Looking excited and happy

Looking bored. Didn't know the ferry ride will take so long

Tanjung Pinang, here we come

Welcome to Tanjung Pinang

Our Ferry - Penguin 15

Map of Bintan - Tanjung Pinang is somewhere at the Southern West of the Island

Sitting in the van, on the way to the Kelong

Was disappointed when we reached the Kelong. The whole place look quite rundown and there is no air-con which we thought that there will be. Think we are back to primitive life.

On the speedboat towards the Kelong

View of the Kelong. OMG. Not the type that we thought it's going to be.

Kelong Kawal, the name of the kelong

Along the corridor

Our bedroom

The toilet. Need to collect the water before use as the flow of the water is too slow. The water from the basin is channeled to the sea. Wonder where the poo poo from the toilet will be flushed to.

Our disappointment changed to excitement when we saw our lunch. They served us many dishes and served in 2 portions. We have to tell the boss to cut down the serving for subsequent meals.

Flower Crab cooked with Curry powder.

Fried Calamari

Assam Fish Head

Gon Gon with special chilli sauce

Fried Vege
Melon Soup
Kids Meal. Fish & Chip

For the rest of the afternoon, we played pool, kids played mahjung, and we went swimming at a deserted island. Nothing much at the beach. The water is super salty and my eyes were very pain after contacting the sea water. There are also many jellyfish.

Kennie got addicted to playing pool
Place for us to hang our clothes and put our belonging

Wooden hut for don't know who

Relaxing. Stress free life

Our tea break - Goreng Pisang, fried tapioca and sweet potato

Kuey lapis. Sample for us. Can order to bring back to sg

After a stress free day, we were all anticipating our dinner. Yummy dinner was served.

Fried Kang Kong

Chilli Sotong

Fried Prawn

Fried Chicken

Steam Fish with black bean

Fish Soup

We watched the kelong staff catch sotong. Too bad we couldn't join in as we didn't bring our own fishing rod and the boss claimed that the fishing rod is not his. Stingy lah. Anyway, it's quite easy to catch the sotong. They just need to use a luminous bait and the sotong will be attracted to it. Really sotong, they can't even differentiate a real bait or a faked one.

This is the original colour of the sotong.

It will change to the colour we saw at the market. Some of them will even keep splitting black ink

Our largest catch.

Our supper

Ba Kwa. Karin brought this from Sg just in case there's nothing to eat here but there's so much food here!

Satay for Supper

BBQ Sotong. Think it's just caught by the kelong assistant.

Night night. More fun tomorrow.
