1st 7 day (Tou Qi) and Farewell to Ken (Again)

It's the Tou Qi after Granny's departed from this world. According to Chinese practice (Buddhism and Taoism), we will need to pay our respect to her on this day. Gold/silver paper and cooked food will be offered to her. Other than Tou Qi, we will need to pay our respect to her on the 49th (qi qi) and 100th days.

Conducting a lesson on how to fold the gold ingot or whatever it's called.

Bf at Ghim Moh Market and send off Ken at Changi Airport.

Our 1st Prawning Experience

Dinner at Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood at Casuarina Road. This place is well known for their chilli crab but the black pepper crab tasted much better today. The crab was disappointing because the claw meat was atrophied (about half the size of the shell). Can feel the hollowness of the shell and couldn't have the satisfaction as the meat is too little. The rest of the dishes are quite delicious.

Our first prawning session at Hai Bin U Enterprise (Prawn Fishing) at 603, Sin Ming Avenue. The rate is 1 hr $15, 2 hrs $25 and 3 hrs $30. So it's definitely more worthwhile to take the 3 hrs package. Equipment and baits are provided at no additional costs. For bbq’ing our catches, charcoal, fire starters, satay sticks and salt are provided as well.

I only managed to catch 1 pathetic small prawn and I score zero for the rest of the night. luckily we were with Kevin and family as they caught quite a no. of prawns. They do the job and we fill our stomach. Haha

First we brought the prawns for a wash, poked them with the skewers and sprinkled the salt on them. Next, we threw them to the wire mesh with hot burning charcoal below. Then you can see how the prawns struggled by flapping their tails vigorously, and how their legs moved rapidly hoping to escape from the burning fire. In seconds, the prawns turned all red and they are all dead and ready to go into our stomach. Some of the prawns were pregnant and you can see a whole lot of orange colored tiny round things inside their body. Quite disgusting.

We enjoyed the prawning session. Not from the torturing of the prawn or scoring zero. The enjoyment came from the family get together, chit chatting session with a glass of cold beer and the nice bbq prawn.
